Our Origins
December 2021, OneLight Sensing LLC (OLS) stands as an independent entity resulting from a spin-off from SA Photonics, LLC. Situated in San Jose, California, OLS is a privately held company founded by Jim Coward and Steve Yee. Specializing in innovative solutions and technologies, OLS engages in the delivery of cutting-edge products through Small Business Innovation Research programs (SBIR). Their focus areas include supercontinuum lasers, multispectral imaging, and LIDAR technology.
In December 2021, SA Photonics was acquired by CACI International. Our combined focus and performance in free-space optical communications and lidar sensing solutions, combined with high fidelity manufacturing capabilities will, without question, further expand our position as the leading U.S.-based provider for our customers’ space, airborne, and terrestrial missions.

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Los Gatos, California, SA Photonics is a privately-held small business and a pioneer in the development and deployment of innovative photonics solutions for commercial and government customers. Since its beginnings, the company has utilized Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding through federal government agencies to attain fast growth and profitability. SBIR contracts are small business-specific funds set aside to power growth, innovation, and commercialization, strengthening the role of smaller businesses in federal R&D. SA Photonics has successfully utilized this seed funding on numerous projects to develop commercially-viable, self-sustaining products.
Over the past 17 years, SA Photonics has focused its efforts on four key areas: free-space optical communication, fiber lasers, optical sensors, and head-worn displays and vision systems. In each area, industry-leading technology continues to propel the company to the forefront, both within government and commercial applications.
